What would you do in the final exam period?

Since I published a small research regarding to hacking Blackboard Academic Suite two years ago, I have received hundreds of emails asking for help hacking into their teacher’s account to change grades or to view quizzes solutions.

(To those who don’t know what is Blackboard, Blackboard is a very popular e-learning platform that used by American universities manage and conduct classes over the internet. Students often submit their assignments and take quizzes/tests on this web-based system.)

The number of requests sent to my mail box increases dramatically during every final exam period.  Since these weeks are final exam time,  my mail box is now being swamped with those kind of  “help me” messages. Needless to say, I find those emails quite hilarious and would like to share with you some of them.  🙂

( I have removed the actual email addresses for the sake of privacy)

I’m a college student and I really need your help on “getting” my professors login and pass for blackboard. It’s been really hard for me for the past months. I’ve been really stressing on my class and it’s gotten to the point where I would have suicidal thoughts because of this one class. I’m not asking you to hack it for me. But can you help me do it? I’m not the kind of student that likes to slack off a lot, but it’s just this one class that has really been bothering me.

Sorry to disturb you, but if you can help me, I will be most appreciative.
It is any way for me to know in blackboard what is the right answer in a test teat give you 3 or 4 answers to chose from?
Or if you know some vulnerabilities that can help me with blackboard ex: change grades or delete IP address from where i give an exam.
Thank you..

hey whats up, I saw your post on google about hacking blackboard accounts. I was a bit confused about the process, can you just tell me the simplest way of doing it. I don’t plan on messing somebodys grades, I just need test answers before I post mine, and not worry about studying 10 hours a day then.

Chao Anh Thanh,
I just read your article on hacking Blackboard. I am in this class and forgot to post on the discussion board and it counts for a great deal of our course. I have never tried to do something like this before so I don’t know what I should do. I tried the links that are on your article but they didn’t work. I was wondering if you could help me out. I’m not trying change my grade I just want to add discussion posts but for previous days is this possible? I don’t really want to change my professors password or anything. I just want to add these posts so that I get the credit. I was doing well in the course and had an A and because of forgetting to put these posts up I’m looking at a B. The participation grade counts for so much, not that you care about all that but I would deeply appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

hey if you have any good up to date blackboard hacks I would pay for them. And if you need help I might be able to help.
cape fear community college. I want to hack blackboard because I’m taking a lot of online classes and want to see whats possible to do on there. I wouldn’t login to my teachers account and change my grades but it would be cool to look at other peoples essays and stuff. I have experience hacking other sites not like this though i’m more of a script kiddy than a real hacker.

An Update

Just feel like writing an entry for my blog all of a sudden at midnight. It is almost the end of the Spring, also is my third semester at UTD. The junior year passed by so fast. I couldn’t achieve as much as I wished; everything was harder than I ever imagined. Have been really tired and frustrated for the last few months.

In Feb, a company in downtown Dallas gave me an offer to work as a Network security specialist. A good position with fair pay, guaranteed sponsorship and most importantly that was the job I always wanted to do. They wanted me to start working immediately right after I accepted the offer. Unfortunately, due to some restrictions of my university’s department, I couldn’t get approved to work during Spring. It was kinda sad at first though, but at least now I have completely got over it and accepted it as precious experience.

Enough with the bad news.  To be fair, the whole last semester was not actually wasted.  The UTD’s computer security group, which founded by me and a friend, has been active and yielding good results up to now:  decent number of members, full supports from the department and lot of skilled people interested in security coming to the meeting. Thanks to the group, I had opportunities to meet new friends who share the same interests.

It’s 2PM. My writing now is just like crap (just as usual); should be improved very soon (or I will be in a serious trouble T_T ) .

A blog post about writing a blog post

Sometimes, I feel the most hardest promise to keep is the promise made (many times, possibly) to yourself. I always tell myself to write more often on this blog, but so far it looks like I have failed badly.

My most recent entry was written on December 17, which was more than 2 months ago. I don’t wanna find some lame excuses to explain like “I don’t have enough time” or “I am already tired after a long day studying/working.” Even Bill Gates has time to write about his journey, why can’t I  ??  Some people says that if you really really want to do something, you’ll find a way to achieve it sooner or later.

To be honest,  I always hesitate to write something because I don’t know what to write, and on top of that, I’m not really sure what I am going to write is correct.  I know that the one-hundred-percent-correct thing does not even exist; since something is right today will not necessarily be the truth tomorrow. But there’s something still prevent me from adding new post to this blog.I am still trying to find it….. But it seems that the most reasonable excuse which has been found up to now is… my laziness. O_O

My Linux Desktop

My Desktop Screen - Click to view larger version

Took me some time to do the customizations that fit my style. 🙂
The OS I’m using is Ubuntu.

I took a wallpaper and applied some screenlets on it. I changed icons as well as windows colors to make everything match together.

Also, I made a wallpaper-integrated terminal for usage convenience.

In short, I absolutely like it 🙂

Excuse – the failure desease

No more Excuses

No more Excuses

How many times have you used excuses as a shield to deny your own failures?

  • ” This university sucks. Professors suck.  I didn’t learn anything  at all .  I can’t find a good job because I was in this place.  My friends get their ideal jobs because they were from good schools. “
  • ” I’m not as smart as  my friends.   Obviously, I can’t do what they are doing. It takes brain to succeed.  So why bother trying? “
  • “I can do anything; but everything so far I have done has failed because of my misfortune.”
  • “I am a loser.  Always.”

Excuse is the most common way to escape from failures.  Perhaps,  many of us have used excuses, couple of times or more, to “cure” our failures. Unfortunately, excuse is not a good medicine like we believe, in contrast,  it’s a desease.

Like any other desease, it gets worse if it isn’t treated properly.

A victim of this desease goes through this mental process:

“I have failed badly in school /  at job.  So what’s the reason?  Let’s see which one can help me save face:  my health is not good,  I am not smart, I lack of education, I got bad luck … “

Once he finds good reasons to make him feel better, he simply sticks with them.  His following failures are explained by those excuses:  “Today is just like the other day, I failed because of  stupidity” .

Each time the victim makes the excuses, the excuse become embedded deeper in his mind. The more frequently he use them, the more he think those execuses are completely true:  “So I am really stupid , I failed again”

And Finally :  ” I can’t do anything. A dumb will never be succesful.”

Failures succeed failures.  Have you ever been in this situation ?

I sometimes find myself in this trouble which affect so negatively to what I do.

How do we get out of this problem?

Remember you should be the one who control your life and your achievement.  Many people who are uneducated still succeed in their lives.  If you are doing bad in school, it’s your own fault. If what you believe is true, so all students from your school are unemployed?   Succesful people know they can control their life rather than leaving everything to fate .

If your attitude is like “Ok, I’ll give it a try , but honestly I don’t think it will work“, when you are doing something and  expecting it fails, Failure will be your result. You lost money, time and receive failure.

So, always think “I’ll win!“, not “I’ll probably lose”;  ” I can do it!” rather than ” I’m afraid I can’t”.

People don’t need intelligence to succeed.  Don’t ever :
1. Underestimate yourself.

2. Overestimate your friend’s brain power.

Don’t see other people achieve something and think “ Wow, he/she is so talented. What about me? I’m stupid. I’ll never be able to do the same thing

Put effort into everything you do. You’ll realize how easy it is.

Important thing is not how much intelligent you are but how your way of  thinking guides your intelligence. Intelligence alone without proper way of thinking is useless.

PS: This entry I wrote for myself and anyone who often use excuses as a shield to avoid facing failure.
